Ingredients:
- 1 cup dried figs, stems removed
- 1/2 cup water
- 1/4 cup honey
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1/4 tsp baking soda
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup old-fashioned rolled oats
- 1/4 cup chopped nuts e

Instructions:
Put water, honey, butter, brown sugar, and dried figs in a saucepan
Over medium heat, bring the mixture to a simmer
Stir it every so often until the figs soften and the mixture gets thicker
Take it off the heat and let it cool down
Warm up the oven to 350F 175C and put parchment paper in an 8x8-inch baking pan
Beat the egg and vanilla extract together in a large bowl
Put the cooled fig mix into the bowl and mix it well
Mix the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in a different bowl using a whisk
Slowly add the dry ingredients to the wet ones and mix them together until they are well mixed
Add the chopped nuts and rolled oats to the dough and mix them in
Line the baking pan with foil and press half of the dough into it to make an even layer
Cover the dough with the cooled fig filling
Place the rest of the dough over the fig filling and gently press it down
Put it in an oven that is already hot and bake for 25 to 30 minutes, or until the top turns golden brown
Take it out of the oven and leave it in the pan to cool all the way down
Cut into bars and serve after it has cooled
